In June 2004, the Commission was joined by the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to launch a two year program called the NYC Small Business Awards. The initiative's goals included:

1. Recognizing small businesses that have demonstrated leadership in making New York City a better place for women.
2. Educating women business owners about the many resources the NYC Small Business Services has to offer, including their Business Solutions Center and the Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprises Program (M/WBE).
