Red Hook: A Plan for Community Regeneration. Sponsored by Community Board 6 in Brooklyn, the plan was adopted, as modified by the City Planning Commission, on September 11, 1996. It outlines a comprehensive strategy for rebuilding Red Hook's population and economy, including proposals to:

(1) promote opportunities for improved housing, social and youth services, and expansion of the residential population;
(2) preserve and expand industrial and maritime activity where it is solidly positioned;
(3) promote employment and business opportunities for local residents;
(4) promote new residential development;
(5) minimize conflict between industrial and residential communities;
(6) strengthen and support the burgeoning arts community;
(7) improve public transportation access and circulation;
(8) strengthen existing retail areas; and
(9) revitalize and create public access to the waterfront.
