What is it?
Similar in size to a refrigerator, a combined heat and power (CHP) microturbine system is a generator that produces electricity for a building and captures waste heat created during the process to regulate the building’s temperature.
Why are they useful?
Microturbines use energy more efficiently than local electrical utilities. Increased efficiency means greater cost savings for building owners and tenants.
What can they do for New York City?
Microturbines reduce the strain on the City’s electrical grid. With less demand, the City’s power plants work more effciently and produce fewer carbon emissions.
