| World Trade Center terrorist
bombing initiates greatest response in apparatus and
manpower in FDNY history. During the initial 24 hours
of operations, there were 135 responding FDNY companies
and approximately 775 uniformed members at the scene.
The equivalent of 23 alarms were called for this emergency. |

Bunker gear distributed to
all uniformed personnel, resulting in fewer and less
serious burns decreased by 75 percent and upper extremity
burns decreased by 63 percent. Severity indicators (days
lost to medical leave, hospital admissions and skin
grafts) also were reduced substantially. |

Team,NYTF-1.
Hotel St. George blaze, Brooklyn, at 18 alarms, is the
highest number of alarms transmitted in FDNY history.
