A Yellow Arrow at Trinity Cemetery
September 1, 2005 – This month, some of New York City’s hidden treasures continue to be highlighted with bright Yellow Arrow interactive sculptures, giving New Yorkers the opportunity to learn the stories and histories behind the marked locations. The cultural exhibit intersects with the entertainment industry by showcasing locations ripe for casting in productions.
From September 5- 17, four Yellow Arrow Sculptures will be on display along the promenade at Battery Park. When passers-by call 212-201-2005 from their mobile phone and enter the code displayed on the arrows, they will hear the voice of James Sanders, author of Celluloid Skyline, narrating the stories of films shot in those locations: Traffic in Souls, Mirage, Desperately Seeking Susan and Men in Black.
Yellow arrows were also displayed for the HOWL! Festival in the East Village from Aug 21-28. Click here to view a map and podcast of the audio for each of the locations.
To close the summer installation of Yellow Arrow: The Secret New York, 20 arrows will be unveiled across the city for the day on Saturday, September 17, telling the stories of locations visited throughout the summer. Visit the Yellow Arrow website for more information.
The Yellow Arrow project was unveiled in summer 2004 in New York City, and has since spread to 225 cities in 18 countries.
