Opened
in 1976, North Central Bronx Hospital (NCBH)
is a major provider of comprehensive health care in one of New York
City's most ethnically diverse service areas.
NCBH offers a wide range of primary, medical, surgical, obstetrical/gynecological,
behavioral health services and state-of-the-art inpatient care.
The Emergency Room, open 24 hours
a day, seven days a week, provides both medical and psychiatric
emergency services.
The
hospital's midwifery service has received national recognition for
its family-friendly approach. Our adolescent pregnancy program meets
the special medical and social needs of pregnant teens and their
infants.
Our Growth and Recovery Program coordinates more than 25 twelve-step
self-help groups and wellness programs throughout the community.
These programs are attended by 1,500 to 2,000 people monthly. The
Center also offers a broad range of wellness programs, which include
stress and pain management, weight loss, smoking cessation and cardiovascular
risk reduction.
