Mayor Bloomberg Details City's Ongoing Efforts to Ensure All New Yorkers Are Counted in 2010 Census
Mayor Bloomberg, Schools Chancellor Klein and City Census Coordinator Stacey Cumberbatch today detailed the City's efforts to ensure a full and accurate count of all New York City residents in the 2010 Census and encouraged City schools to highlight the "Census in Schools" curriculum over the next two weeks as census forms are arriving in the mail. Last April, Mayor Bloomberg signed an executive order creating, for the first time in City history, a New York City Census Office, which has been working closely with the U.S. Census Bureau and forming local partnerships across the City with community organizations, cultural and educational institutions, faith-based organizations, immigrant advocacy groups and others to spread the word that all New Yorkers have something to gain by filling out the census form and nothing to lose as all information is kept confidential, in accordance with Federal law.

Mayor Bloomberg, HUD Secretary Donovan and NYCHA Chairman Rhea Announce More Than $400 Million in Public and Private Funding and $65-$75 Million in Annual Federal Funding to Support More Than 20,000 Public Housing Units
Mayor Bloomberg, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan and New York City Housing Authority Chairman Rhea today announced HUD's approval of New York City's application to qualify 21 NYCHA developments - and their more than 20,000 housing units - for federal subsidies. In order to qualify for federal assistance, the developments will be sold to an entity created and controlled by NYCHA.

Mayor Bloomberg, Governor Paterson, Brooklyn Borough President Markowitz, Forest City Ratner Companies Chairman and CEO Bruce Ratner, Barclays PLC President Robert E. Diamond, Jr., and NETS investor Shawn "JAY-Z" Carter today broke ground on the Barclays Center at Atlantic Yards. The 18,000-seat world-class sports and entertainment arena, which will open in 2012, is the initial piece of the Atlantic Yards project, a major mixed-use development in Brooklyn that will create tens of thousands of construction and permanent jobs, thousands of units of affordable housing and billions of dollars in economic activity.

Mayor Bloomberg and Health Commissioner Farley Launch New Public Education Campaign Showing How Quitting Smoking Now Can Reverse the Damage Caused by Cigarettes
Mayor Bloomberg and Health Commissioner Farley today launched a bold new public-education campaign to highlight the benefits of quitting smoking, and the consequences of continued smoking, as part of the Administration's intensive efforts to raise awareness about the hazards of tobacco. The campaign, called "Reverse the Damage," features stark images of lung cancer and heart disease along with an emphasis on the potential for a smoker's body to heal after quitting.

Mayor Bloomberg Presents FY 2011 Preliminary Budget
Mayor Bloomberg today presented a Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 Preliminary Budget and an updated four-year financial plan. The Mayor outlined a plan to close a $4.9 billion deficit for FY 2011 with no tax increases for New Yorkers.

Mayor Bloomberg Releases 2005 Campaign Accountability Report
Mayor Bloomberg today released his third Campaign Accountability Report, showing that nearly a year and a half after Election Day 2005, 96% of the 100 campaign promises the Mayor made during the 2005 campaign have either been fully implemented or are currently being implemented.
